Northwestern MiM

Was wondering if anyone had information on the program and how well it does for IB placement. Its jobs report shows hiring across a wide range of industries. On linkedin i have seen a few IB placements. Obviously the Northwestern name carries value, but if anyone had more information or went to the program please comment.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, Northwestern's Master in Management (MiM) program does not appear to be a primary feeder for investment banking (IB) roles compared to its undergraduate programs or the Kellogg MBA. However, the Northwestern name does carry significant weight, and the program's graduates have seen placements across various industries, including IB.

For IB placement specifically: 1. Limited IB Focus: The MiM program is not traditionally designed as a direct pipeline to IB roles. It caters to a broader audience, including those looking to pivot into business from non-business backgrounds. 2. Northwestern's Reputation: The Northwestern brand and alumni network can still open doors, especially in Chicago and other Midwest financial hubs. Networking and leveraging alumni connections will be critical. 3. LinkedIn Observations: As you mentioned, there are some IB placements from the MiM program, but they are likely the result of individual effort, networking, and prior experience rather than the program being a direct feeder. 4. Comparison to Other Programs: If IB is your primary goal, programs like the Kellogg MBA or even Northwestern's undergraduate economics and finance tracks (with clubs like IBC or IMG) are more targeted for IB recruitment.

If you're set on IB, consider supplementing the MiM program with: - Networking: Engage with Northwestern's alumni network and attend finance-related events. - Clubs and Resources: Explore finance clubs like the Investment Banking Club (IBC) or Investment Management Group (IMG) if accessible. - Internships: Pursue internships during or after the program to build relevant experience.

While the MiM program may not be the strongest direct path to IB, with the right strategy and effort, it can still serve as a stepping stone.
