Part Time MBA as Pivot / Hedge for Traders?
Hi all, set to get started in S&T very soon here (haven't gotten placed on desk yet, but presumably will be in Fixed Income based on convos / interests). I expect to enjoy the space very much as I'm quite familiar with it, having spent 2 years at my BB in internal consulting prior to internally transferring. That said, it's very important to me to (a) develop and retain a wider skillset, (b) bolster my competitive profile, (c) potentially open up other opportunities.
I'm aware that in general, MBAs are pretty useless for career traders. This is why I see it as either a means for transitioning to a Hedge Fund / Private Equity (far less likely), or as a means to bolster my resume in such a way that I'll be a stronger candidate for management positions in markets / other at my BB. I can foresee a part-time MBA at NYU / Columbia being in the cards based on my background and GMAT.
Interested to hear people's thoughts.
