QComm vs Northwestern vs UCL vs LSE

Currently considering the following options:

- Queens Smith School of Business
- Northwestern Weinberg
- UCL Economics
- LSE Economics (still waiting)

I've also had offers from UMich Ross, Western Ivey, UofT, and Warwick but I'm not considering these based on these above offers.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's a breakdown of your options:

  1. LSE Economics (if admitted):
LSE is a globally recognized powerhouse for economics, particularly strong in finance and economics-related career placements. Its location in London provides unparalleled access to top-tier financial institutions, consulting firms, and networking opportunities. If your goal is to break into finance, investment banking, or consulting, LSE would likely be the top choice.

  2. Northwestern Weinberg:
Northwestern is a prestigious U.S. university with strong academics and a solid reputation. While not as finance-focused as LSE, it offers excellent opportunities for networking and career placement, especially in the U.S. market. If you're considering a broader career path or graduate school in the U.S., Northwestern is a strong contender.

  3. UCL Economics:
UCL is another excellent choice, particularly for economics. While it doesn't quite match LSE's reputation in finance, it still offers strong academic credentials and good placement opportunities, especially in Europe. Its London location is also a significant advantage for networking.

  4. Queen's Smith School of Business:
Queen's Smith is highly regarded in Canada and offers strong placement in Canadian finance and consulting roles. However, it may not carry the same international prestige as LSE, Northwestern, or UCL. If you're planning to work in Canada, this could be a great option.

Key Considerations:

  • Career Goals: If you're targeting finance or consulting in Europe, LSE is the clear leader. For U.S.-based opportunities, Northwestern might be better.
  • Location: Consider where you want to work post-graduation. LSE and UCL are ideal for Europe, while Northwestern is better for the U.S.
  • Prestige and Network: LSE and Northwestern have broader international recognition compared to Queen's and UCL.

If LSE admits you, it would likely be the top choice for finance and economics. Otherwise, Northwestern or UCL would depend on your career and location preferences.
