Short story - applying this coming fall/winter for 2021 admissions. Reached out to an admission consultant, and said with my profile that I might be a better fit for EMBA since I have 10 years of work experience (graduated top public school 2009, UCLA/UNC tier). I was surprised by this and actually kind of disagree, since my background below, which is non-traditional:
Wealth management 2010-2014 Market risk analyst (energy commodities) 2014-2016 US Army Officer 2016-Present
So it's not like I was at an investment bank for 10 years straight and applying as a VP or MD. Intent with a full-time MBA is to transition from the military back to the private sector with IB as a focus. Before anyone asks if I really want to do IB hours in my 30s, I'll just keep it short and say the answer is yes I'm willing to pay my dues.
Given that - my hunch is full time MBA is still the right path, albeit I'm somewhat on the right hand side of the curve of typical experience. Thoughts? It does not seem to me though that I'm at the level of experience to be competitive for an EMBA, nor does that really align with my goals, e.g.: if I was a finance VP with 10 years in, ok maybe, or if I was a military Officer with 10 years in and at the rank of Major, ok maybe--but I'm not.
The bad: GPA 3.0, took GMAT multiple times and clustered around 650

After the May test, got frustrated with it and decided to just go with what I got. Spent a lot of time on the Manhattan guides and others and just got to a point where I had to pivot to other priorities in life besides the GMAT.
The good: CFA Charterholder, which hopefully shows I'm not completely rocks for brains. Helped teach the official review program for my local CFA Society before I joined the Army. Some extracurriculars as well in civic organizations and also built a YouTube channel on financial education which has gotten a large number of views and subscribers (keeping it somewhat anonymous here). Got the veteran's card also to play up for demographics -- I'm not above playing that game, since everyone else is lol.
Reasonable targets: UT Austin, NYU, similar tier of top public or comparable private schools. Preference toward east coast or Texas, also preference toward schools in or near a major metro area My one yolo long shot in case they screw up and push the wrong button school: Columbia
VERY open to spending a little money on a resume review, if there's consultants who specialize in this or who can advise on other relevant areas.

You have a very interesting profile and, while an EMBA may not be the right fit, a mid-career 1 year program might suit your needs and put you on track for ibanking. For example, Cornell offers an Accelerated One Year MBA for folks who already have a masters degree or other certification (e.g. CFA charter).

In my experience, if anyone can make an MBA happen with 10 years of work experience, it's a military candidate. So I think you'll have options in this is process. What I worry about more for you is the GMAT score. In my experience, it can be really tough to break into top programs with a 680 GMAT. Not to say impossible, but tough. Combined with the 3.0 GPA, also tough. So maybe you'll need to have a broader school strategy to help. (McCombs is a great option here. Also maybe Cornell which is great for banking.) I know testing is totally a drag, but for candidates like you, I usually recommend the GRE. My clients that do take my advice here always tell me that they wish they had listened to me earlier.
