Rice vs UT BHP
Which of these schools is better for IB in Houston?
Also, how are the exit opps in Houston, specifically for PE?

This has been asked before. There's a direct line to most if not all BBs in Houston from UT and I don't think Rice has an undergrad business degree. Both are great schools, but I would lean towards UT unless there's a good reason for choosing Rice. Exit opps are fine -- again, search around on this website.
I’m already leaning towards BHP because of the connections to BBs and the fact that it has a business program. BHP would seal the deal for me because you’d be a tier above the non-BHP classmates and this is great when recruiting. And the BHP scholarship sure doesn’t hurt.
Rice.
For context, second year analyst working at a bb in Houston right now that went to an ivy, so I have no skin in the game. This answer is also inevitably going to get down-voted by the marauding gang of UT dudes who, i bet, patrol this site, but I can safely say that Rice is the better option for Houston. From what i've seen, if you go to rice you'll basically get an interview at whatever bank you want, given you put in the effort to network. Personally, at my bank's info-session there were only like ~20 or so people at the rice info session versus literally hundreds at UT. We usually have the same amount of rice & ut kids in our intern class.
You'll see that UT places a lot of people in houston but they have 10x the amount of people applying, and i think rice alum tend to be more helpful just bc it's hard to help ut kids bc there are so many of them, and because i guess they can have more of an effect on the outcome of an individual student. Also, for what it's worth, i think the rice's reputation is > than ut's in terms prestige (anecdotally from what i've seen the rice kids are smarter than the ut kids). I will say though that Rice kids are stigmatized as just being weird as fuck, so that's something they have to overcome. Also, at my bank all the UT kids kinda just get lumped together (bhp and non-bhp), so there's no initial benefit of being in bhp -- the difference usually just comes out in the interviews where bhp kids are just smarter/more well prepared.
Exit opps in houston will mostly be energy (in NYC or Houston), but my analyst class has people going to generalist funds in dallas, SF, and nyc.
In any case, i'd go to rice for houston. For NYC, i think the edge goes to UT but my ut buddies have told me that the pipeline for NYC is no where near as strong as the northeast schools.
