Rising senior IU Kelley finance 3.1 GPA trying to break into IB will I need grad school due to my low GPA?
I should have joined the banking workshop when I was a sophomore, but I was rather lazy my first few years and let my GPA crumble after that. All of my roommates are in the workshop and I've gained an interest in the field from them. I'm going into my senior year with a rather weak GPA of a 3.1 and an internship with Wintrust Financial.
- Do I have any chance at an analyst position with such a low GPA?
- Should I get an MBA to break in?
- Would I even be able to get into a decent grad school?
low GPA from IU/not in workshop = pretty slim chances for IB but never say never. Gotta network your ass off. Ability to end up at a T15 MBA will depend on your work experience/how you progress and your gmat score.
Is there anywhere to go from here or should I focus on another area of finance ?
Agreed. Never say never, but highly unlikely with that GPA/if you're not in the workshop.
Is there anyway to go from here? Or isn't there a specific field of finance that you would suggest I focus on? It's too late to make any significant changes to my gpa
You could try to do Big 4 transaction services or something and try to lateral into an analyst role in a year or two.
