Rotman or Ivey MBA
I know there has been a lot of discussion on this forum about this topic but I would like to get some more insights from folks in the Canadian finance industry and hopefully some alumni of the two schools.
My Post-MBA goal would be corp development or strategy roles. Not really sure of the industry yet but Real Estate is something i'm seriously considering. I have a strong background in finance and am a CFA charterholder. I've been working as an equity research analyst covering tech over the past 4 years.
My question is: 1. How important would Rotman's internship be to break in to corp dev/strategy roles (considering that i have no prior experience in these roles)
- Would you recommend the Ivey MBA program for a career switcher like me and what are your general thoughts about the two schools in terms of placements/prestige on Bay st. etc
Thanks in advance and any inputs would be highly appreciated!!
Hi priya_1990, hope I can help. Do any of these links cover what you're looking for:
Fingers crossed that one of those helps you.
Did you ever choose?
Ivey is literally known for being a case study type school. If your goal is corp dev/strategy, it would make sense to attend there. Also a well diverse alumni base in Canada/States, downside being you have to live in London and miss out on the convenience for coffee chats in the city, although not really a problem
Are you sure you need an MBA? For something like Corp dev, if your experience is off enough that you need an MBA pivot I’d do Rotman for the internship
Neither are world class programs but both are fine. I’d choose rotman for the location and access to internships
you can get into any top Canadian bank or MBB, Deloitte etc al from Rotman. But you have to do well, also helps if a Canadian and not an immigrant (true whether ppl like to hear it or not )
