Rutgers Advice
Hey everyone, I'm starting at Rutgers in the fall. I got a solid amount of scholarship and I'm in-state, so it made good financial sense for my family for me to go here over my other options. I'm in the business school majoring in finance and am also a part of the SAS honors program (not the honors college). I'm considering potential double majors/minors in several other fields like computer science, data science, and international relations (for personal interest). Anyone have any experience with those fields at Rutgers? Looking to have an impressive academic acumen, but still have as close to a perfect GPA as possible.
I'm looking to get into finance, and exploring IB at the moment. I've heard about the student-managed fund and the Road to Wall Street program and I'm looking to get into both. I would love to hear more about these programs and what I should do over this upcoming summer to optimize for a good freshman year. I'm working two part-time jobs to stack some cash, and am also doing a paid internship at a local financial planning company. I still have a lot of free time so aside from screwing around with friends, traveling, playing sports etc, I'm thinking about learning some skills. Currently looking at general financial markets courses, securities analysis courses, Excel courses, and courses on learning how to code. Would greatly appreciate some advice on what to dedicate my time towards.
Looking forward to having a great time in the fall! Any advice on life in general at Rutgers would be awesome too, thank you so much!
Thanks in advance for any insights from current students or alumni!

Is RU really that bad? I am in a similar spot where I can get a good amount of scholarship for being local. However what is the outlook on Rutgers if you are just looking to get into a corporate role?
Nope, most people in my class had no issue breaking in. You just have to actually know your stuff and put some effort into networking. People tend to exaggerate on this forum. If you have the option to attend a better school, you should, but if not, then Rutgers won't hold you back from getting into banking/finance.
I hated my time at Rutgers not cause it was hard to break in but I felt like everyone had a stick up their ass (especially hardo finance kids) and 90% of the school was just focused on getting fucked up.
