Shortened top 10s vs traditional 2 year

I have been looking at the top 10 programs (as per the financial times list). It seems to me like many of the European programs (IE, INSEAD, etc) have a one to a one and a half year MBA program compared to 2 years at Harvard/Wharton etc.

The shorter MBAs are much cheaper in terms of tuition and opportunity cost. But the downside seems to be that you do not get an internship if you do a 1 year program because you are a full time student in the summer.

Anyone have any additional insight on any pros/cons here?

ill bump this with a comment because i think it should be talked about some -- columbia even has a 1.5 years speed program and i think cornell does as well -- kellogg, ND, some others.. a lot of them can be for consulting students being paid to go back by their sponsoring firms or if you want to stay in your current line of biz and have an opportunity for when you come back
