Sr Finance Analyst accepted to msf
I'm currently a Senior Finance Analyst at a F500 and was accepted to Villanova msf
I'm inquiring if it would be a good idea to attend the program/ I currently have three years WE and would like to get into a consulting firm for finance consulting
MSF for consulting is the same like MAcc to get into finance. not needed and if you really can get into that field, you should be able to enter a MBA program that outputs consultants regularly.
I was thinking about doing MSF too, but this is the advice that I got: unless you really want to take a deep dive into financial theories don't do an MSF. MBA is a bit more versatile and more recognized degree even though MSF is gaining popularity. Based on recent GMAC employment survey though about 74% employers were planning on hiring an MBA compared to 48% for MSF. You do have the work experience for an MBA, but at the end of the day it's completely your decision.
I would never go for an MSF after 3 years of work experience. Go for a top 20 MBA and take a shot at post-MBA consulting from there. MSF will not position you well for either pre or post MBA consulting roles.
