Stern or Fordham pls help

Hi, I got into nyu stern ug early decision and I literally got zero financial aid. Zero. Financial. Aid. I applied to college of arts and science last year, and stern this year. When I applied last year they gave me 20k. This year I got none and my financial situation got worse. I'm petitioning for 30k and will settle for the 20k from last year. I'm Canadian so most I can take in a loan is 15k Canadian which is 12 American. The 50k tuition - 20k aid - 12k loan - 2.5k loan. This puts me in a deficit of 20k Canadian. Maybe my dad can pay 5k. It's possible I pull 15k of scholarships out from nowhere. There's a chance I make another 15k from my business. But then there's next year. lol. I'm pretty upset about the situation as its been my dream school for a very long time. I could spread the degree over 6 years and work on my business more. Very annoyed. Don't know what to do. Fordham gave me 15k a year for 4 years (deans scholarship), put me in its honors business thing with a trip to asia, will probably give me 20-30k financial aid. It's not as prestigious though. I love Stern and the prestige is very high. My careers plans are to grow a fund with my friend, so Stern could be a good attention grabber compared to Fordham. I really don't know. Cuny Baruch will give me a fullride + laptop also. I need many opinions from experienced people in Finance. Degree at stern would've been finance and stats

Personally, I'd take Fordham. It gives you a real college campus feel, and if you keep your grades up, join the IB Society, and network correctly, you'll go to the places you want to go. If you have any questions, ask proptrader on WSO. He really helped me out a lot when I was debating Fordham vs Kenan Flagler

Go to Fordham and then transfer to an ivy that gives better aid and better placement?

Edit: I say Fordham b/c many ivies do not take business classes as transfer credits. Make sure you take the liberal arts classes that can be transferred.

wow.. I didn't expect this type of help. PS I have a business that is expecting a 400k investment over the next 8-12 months. I never even considered Columbia!! Thank you for the idea!! Id definitely love to hear about the Fordham to Columbia transfer. I Have the scores and grades to register on Columbia's radar. Currently right now my family is incredibly poor so the first year is what I'm struggling to afford. I pretty much have to go next year because I already took a gap year to get my business going, but I have a structured investment plan that will happen over the following year. Needless to say I'm not going to be able to pull 50k out of thin air, but the Fordham deans scholarship + fin aid should cover me almost fully the first year. If I can then get into Columbia thatd be fantastic. I will PM you guys

Btw I think I should clarify: NYU Stern Finance Major $0 aid, Fordham Honors business with the free trip (idk what its called honestly) with deans scholarship + I'm expecting 20-30 in aid in next two weeks, CUNY Baruch Macaulay program (full tuition). Havent been offered honors from CUNY yet, but I'd be half surprised if I didn't get the honors program.

  1. NYU gives no aid if your middle class, Fordham covered just over half of my tuition where as NYU gave $000,000.00. I chose Fordham B school , best decision in terms of finances & lifestyles. Lifestyle at NYU is so expensive. Expect to be dropping a ton of money every week at these downtown clubs and bars.

  2. What I tell a lot of kids who are in this position is that NYU is prettty saturated w talent. Take this as you wish, but it's much easier to stand out at Fordham as an exceptional student w/ a 3.8 then it is at NYU (and the curve at stern is ridiculous). The top kids at Fordham absolutely get FO jobs. Obv our OCR isn't like Stern but I can tell you first hand that we send a very good amount of kids to FO jobs at BBs.

Hi I have a couple of questions. What is the difference in prestige between the honors program at Baruch (full ride program) and Fordham? How would the prestige of Stern help, what would I be missing out & what would I regret?
