Talk me out of Oxford MBA

Currently a BA/A/AC at MBB in US and thinking about pursuing an MBA (with sponsorship).

Strongly considering going to Oxford Said (1 year program) because:

  1. Only lose one year of earnings and only owe firm one year after
  2. International experience would be cool / fun
  3. Has some layman’s prestige but isn’t terribly selective (wouldnt have to spend a lot of time studying for GMAT)
  4. Seems like many US MBA programs are just a 2 year party / travel fest which isn’t a huge selling point for me (had plenty of fun in undergrad)

Feel like biggest drawback is a weaker network (especially because i’ll be in US long term). But my MBB network feels largely sufficient as is.

Given the above, would love to hear opinions. Particularly interested in thoughts from more senior folks

I apologize if the point whooshed over my head, but why are you looking to get talked out of it? Your points are all very fair and thought out, especially surrounding each of their value propositions (US vs. Int'l MBA). I think you might have drawn a pretty narrow value prop for a US MBA though. Given that you work at an MBB, a decently thought out app with high enough scores should land you an M7, and your network expands pretty significantly thereafter. I understand you feel your MBB network is already broad, but the advantages of augmenting that with a strong MBA network ameliorate your current one drastically.
