Thoughts about UT Austin MSF program?
I love the idea of studying in a school like UTA, but I have mixed feelings regarding this program. The fact that the program is just 10-months, doesn't require any prior experience and doesn't have ANY quant pre-requisites (not even statistics), have me wondering about the solidity of the program. Actually, if it was not offered by UTA, all that may seem like a red flag to me. Also, the average starting salary ($68,763/year) is considerably lower than other high ranked MSF programs. Take for example Columbia ($107,852/year). Talking about Columbia, their program looks very solid and challenging. I found this on their website: "The MSFE provides ... the opportunity to obtain a rigorous, graduate-level finance and economics training in an intensive two-year program." "Students take a ... curriculum of Ph.D. and MBA courses offered at CBS." I know that it may be more selective and significantly more expensive. But that kind of solidity and challenge is what someone looks from a Top program, right?
