Undergrad Transfer Advice

I've finished my freshman year at a very non-target state school and I find myself at a crossroads. I feel like if I were to finish my degree at this state school, I'll barely stand any chance at getting a BB/EB offer. I'm considering applying to quite a few target/semi-target schools. The schools I'm looking at are UMich, NYU, Columbia (CC or GS), Cornell, Dartmouth, BYU, and Northwestern. However, I haven't taken calc or microeconomics, which are prereq's for most of those schools' undergrad business schools. My question is, how should I rank those schools if I get accepted, and which of them should I consider going to as an econ major if I don't get accepted to their business schools?

You’re a rising sophomore? Recruiting happens sophomore spring, so it’ll be too late to take advantage of OCR at your new school.

Other guy nailed it but focus on getting in instead of asking about whether X is better than Y for recruiting. All of the schools you listed are targets except for BYU.

Why would it be to late to take advantage of OCR in the spring of my sophomore year if I start attending that school at the beginning of my sophomore year?

If I’m understanding correctly, you just finished your freshman year and haven’t applied yet. I’m pretty sure you have to apply by March to get in for the following fall (looked into transferring way back when I was a freshman).

I guess you can try to get in sophomore spring but you won’t have any grades so it’ll raise some eyebrows.

Oh gotcha. I didn't wanna go into what I thought would be unnecessary detail, but I'm in a weird situation because I'm on a mission for my church for two years, so I'm not in school at the moment, so I'll be applying in March 2024 for fall of 2024. Would that be enough time for OCR and networking?
