USC Marshall vs Vandy Econ

Got accepted by both of them as an international sophomore and struggling between them. My intened career is to work in finance especialy investment banking and private equity. Tho I can work in anywhere, NY will be my top priority while SF and HK will be my following options. Vandy seems having better prestige but USC do provide pre-professional and practical education. On top of that, it seems USC and Vandy are both placing more students to IB these years. I look forward to work in ib right out of undergrad. Look forward to hear your advice. Which should I choose?

Thanks for the response. I understand that but I afraid there is not high possibility for me to get IB in New York if I choose Vandy since it is only a semi target tho bigger chance than USC. On the other hand, seems USC is kinda close to be target in SF and LA. Hence, is it risky if I choose Vandy?

USC is a target for LA/SF. It's behind Stanford and Berkeley, but it's the third best west coast school for banking. It also sends some kids to New York anyway, probably like 10-15 a year, vs. 20-30 for LA/SF. Numbers vary by year.

How competitive is IB at USC? Do you know how many kids go for those 35-40 spots?

Also, is that 20-30 to each of LA and SF or combined?

Agree with USC for west coast recruiting and a push for NYC- I would also say you'd have a better experience at USC. Vandy is very southern fratty and dominates the social scene- while USC's greek life is more open minded and theres a big Intl' student presence if greek life isn't your thing. Didn't go to USC but live in the West Coast and grew up in the south (know alot of people from both)

Go to Vandy. It places better for NYC due to location. It definitely pulls more weight with recruiters and will look better on grad school apps as well. You’ll find a decent social scene at both places but I’ve heard LA is a real shit show nowadays... Even if you choose USC, you will still have gone to a great school and have opportunities that other grads elsewhere will not
