UVA McIntire vs Baruch College- for IB

Hi everyone — I’d really appreciate any insight or advice.

Background:

  • Class of 2027, rising junior, attended target school
  • Missed Spring 2025 recruiting for 2026 IB summer internships due to personal circumstances
  • Transferring schools for junior year
  • Very interested in IB and ready to hustle to get back on track

Questions:

  1. School choice: between UVA McIntire School of Commerce and Baruch College (Zicklin School of Business) for transfer. Given my situation and the goal of recovering for IB recruiting, which would position me better?
  2. I understand most McIntire students who place into IB end up in NYC — does Baruch’s location in NYC still offer a meaningful advantage when it comes to networking or firm access?

Any insight on how these two paths compare in terms of IB recruiting, OCR access, alumni engagement, and overall outcomes would be extremely helpful. Thanks so much!

UVA is a target school, Baruch isn't. That should be the end of this thread. If you want IB and think you have the ability to get an offer, you should go to UVA. The student loan costs are made up for within 2-4 years of your career (depending on bonuses and spending habits).
