Value of MSF from top colleges?

Hi everyone,

Curious to hear how valuable are MSF's from top universities such as MIT, Princeton, etc. How do they stack up agains MBAs? And lastly, how much do they help to getting into IB/PE? Thanks.

On avg (in the US) a top MBA has better placement power than a top MSF degree. Mainly because there are more options for top MBAs to be placed, while top MSFs have to complete with top undergrads for the same roles.

If you're at a T15 US MBA, you're looking at associate IB roles and competition w/ other top MBAs. Same goes for consulting, LDP, PM, marketing, etc....

If you're at one of the few top MSF programs, you're going for roles that undergrads are fighting for....

Comparing a top MSF program to a top MBA is like comparing apples to oranges, completely different.

Correct.

It’s so simple but yet every single time I scroll through finance related forums I always see someone trying to compare the two. They are fundamentally designed for different life stages and are not comparable.
