WashU vs Amherst College Undergrad
Hello everyone! I have to make a tough decision about my ED school. I'm debating on whether to apply to WashU or Amherst. I'm interested in economics, finance, political science, and psychology. I want to go into either law, high finance, or consulting and work on one of the coasts. I was able to visit both schools and I liked WashU's vibe, housing, and social scene more than Amherst's (I still liked Amherst though). Don't know how I feel about one dining hall on campus which was another reason I liked WashU more. However, I I did really like New England and the potential of living there for the next four years. Do either one of these schools give me a significantly better chance of accomplishing my goals/getting a higher salary? What level of target are these schools? Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!!
From a high level, both are great schools. Given you are able to work hard throughout college, you will be able to break into Wall Street from either place. Amherst gets the edge though in terms of that.
What is more important is where you will want to live and learn for four years, so you should focus more on the actual experience on campus when making your decision instead of what you can do after your four years.
Best of luck!

Both great schools, sounds like you think you'll be a better fit at Wash U, so I'd lean towards that if you think you'll be the most happy there.
Amherst is objectively a better school, but the small LAC vibe can be tough for some. Not to say you wouldn't have a great experience, but I'd imagine it would be different than Wash U.
I won't beat around the bush, unless the culture differences outweight the "tier" of the school, go with Amherst. Wash U is good but Amherst is really a top tier college. But, you do need to go somewhere you'll be happy. If you really think that the difference will be huge, then you'll make the choice thats best for you.
Since it seems like you are interested in many different things instead of just finance, I would say go to Amherst. WashU has its own undergraduate business program which means that most classes you take would be finance based, unless you major in economics. At Amherst, you can explore all of these subjects. In addition, apparently people say Amherst has better placement.
