Weekend MBA Programs

I’m currently in corporate development at a F200 company that has large deal flow. I was previously in strategy consulting at a T2 consulting firm (S&, EYP, OW, LEK). I have a good path to promotion up to Manager at my current firm and will likely make around 200K TC in 2-3 years. I also don’t want to career switch and just want to go back into corporate development/finance if I do go for an MBA. Due to this, I was wondering if the Weekend MBA program at say Booth or Kellogg is a good choice for me? Does anyone have experience with these programs? How difficult was it to complete the MBA while working full time?

I'm doing the Part-Time MBA program at Stern. I chose to do Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-9pm. The program is typically 3 years, but some people do it quicker and some do it slower. I do know some people who are in the Saturday cohort though. Their classes are from 9am to 12pm and then 1pm to 4pm on Saturdays.

I am actually really enjoying the program. Depending on the class and the workload, it can feel a little overwhelming at times. When I am incredibly busy at work, it can be stressful to have to leave at 5:30pm to make it to class and then not get home until 9:30pm and then on top of work I have an exam to think about. My team knows I'm taking classes and encouraged me to do the program, but with the understanding that I wouldn't let it negatively impact my work.

The workload has not been that bad though. Statistics, Accounting, Finance and more math intensive classes can be draining, but the leadership, strategy, and negotiations classes are a lot of fun. I find that a benefit of the Part-Time program is that all the students are working professionals who typically have interesting backgrounds and work experience, so class discussions are really interesting and engaging.

On top of that, being in an MBA program is also about meeting people and going to events. I've made some really great friends so far at Stern and the happy hours and other events are usually a lot of fun.
