What makes an undergrad school "good"?

Looking for some help here WSO. I have a few friends who attend NYU stern, and they believe that the school is second only to Wharton. They think that an undergrad business school is essential, and believe that Stern/Umich is literally better than Harvard/Yale/Princeton/Duke/Etc for placements. I don't go to a school that is better than Stern, so I don't really have any skin in the game. However, I'm wondering if there is any objective way to get the point across that Harvard would be better than NYU. Comparing placement statistics might not work out that well, due to the self-selection for IB at stern. I might have better success if I also reference MBB/buyside etc numbers, but it seems like an awful lot of work for a simple disagreement. Thanks.

You’ll note that it’s usually only one side of the two that feels the need to argue these kinds of things. That is usually the side you don’t want to be on. Wherever you go to school, do your thing and do it all well that’s all

Except this is a fabricated argument that op falsely is suggesting. Do you really think kids at nyu really say these things? or is it more likely that op is simply telling a misleading lie in an attempt to stir controversy?

seriously, it’s so obvious...

as mentioned in another thread that you are spamming, I bet no one at NYU thinks that way, so stop spreading your lies and trying to frame your “friends” who go there.

it’s obvious you’re trying to start a hate thread towards the school and that you’re a total fucking dweeb.

just focus on trying to do your best out of your own school and stop worrying about comparing yourself to others and how others compare themselves. you just look like an insecure idiot.

Universities aren't vocational schools and they shouldn't be measured purely on the first job they help you get. It is a deeper experience that includes an expansion of one's thinking, a network/brands, new peers, etc. HYP etc significantly outperform in all of the above compared to Stern.

Where does Stern compare to some of the top public business schools, like UVA McIntire/Michigan Ross/Cal Berkeley?

Would you get a better education from schools like those?
