What to do if I'm not getting into clubs
I'm currently a freshman at Emory and I'm not being able to get into any of the clubs. I don't know what to put on my resume now. I'm doing fine in my classes but I feel like I could be doing a lot more with my time but I don't really know what to do given that I was rejected from literally everything. What are good things I can do right now to put on my resume? Should I try to transfer out of here even though I'm honestly enjoying my time at Emory. Like would I still have good opportunities from here even though I can't get into any of the clubs. I'm not asking about transferring just because of clubs but just in general. Would Emory provide me decent post grad opportunities or should I seriously consider transferring

No need to transfer for clubs first off.
An IB Analyst at WF told me to just make shit up on my resume if I'm not in a club - like president of an investing club or something. He said that's what he did.
Second choice would be to keep trying. Doesn't have to be finance related... I am sure there are some clubs that don't have a vetting process and let anyone in ... Just do that if you actually want to join one. Then get a leadership position, which is all they really want to see. Could be environmental club ffs.
Third option would be to make your own club. If there is a finance club but no investing club or crypto club or IB club then you can make one for example. There can be similar clubs.
Fourth option is reflect on why you are getting rejected and fix that. It's probably lack of social skills so go to parties and talk to people and use social media and these skills will slowly develop. Get out of your comfort zone and always ask people for their insta or ask girls out to build those social skills. Be conscious of why others get rejected and look at awkward conversations or body language they have, and compare to people who are social. And get in photos or videos so you can see how you act and see how awkward you probably are. Honestly it's kinda weird if no club is letting you in but you can change that if you take concious steps to improve. It's just like interviewing or dribbling a basketball, or driving a car. The more you do it, the more natural it becomes.
Thanks for your advice! Yeah I definitely should work on myself but I was confused in the way I should approach that. I was definitely bummed to get rejected by all finance, consulting, and even regular clubs here at Emory. I was talking about transferring in general rather than just because of clubs. I was wondering if it would be worth it even though I'm enjoying my time at Emory just for opportunities
Enjoy freshman year, don't stress too much, learn some things, make some friends, try to get into whatever student clubs you want next year. What kind of clubs are you talking about?
I'm talking about finance and consulting clubs along with others such as MUN, mock trial etc
Yeah, deep breath. Have some fun, try to find other ways to make friends with the people in these clubs, take some relevant classes, reapply next year. When you're actually applying for the internship that could lead to a full-time offer, or applying for full-time jobs, nobody is going to care if you were in those clubs freshman year or not. Your resume probably won't even reflect the years, it should just say that you were in those clubs and leadership roles if any.
Back in college some friends and I made our own club and gave ourselves any titles we wanted - school even gave us some funding which we just used to cater food. Looked just as official as the real clubs tbh with a logo and a LinkedIn page.
If you're at a school where a ton of kids recruit for IB you can just follow the process independently. Try to make friends with the other people going into IB, but given the availability of online resources you could just study and network on your own. Like others have said, definitely think about why you're getting rejected from clubs. At this stage it could be your interview skills, resume, or reasoning for pursuing IB. Find an upperclassman mentor who broke in if you can. The advice you'll get would likely be sufficient to break in. I sat down with a junior who had just gone through recruiting when I was a freshman. Basically set me up for success and he's still a great contact.
I'm at Emory
I'm currently a junior at Emory with an IB SA secured at a large MM bank (Deutsche/Wells/RBC) and I got rejected from almost all of them. The clubs are so competitive at Emory. There are already 3 consulting clubs, 2 investing clubs, and EIIG which kind of is a combo of both. It would be hard to make a new club without copying the others but I think there is obviously a demand for it at Emory. Center for Alternative Investments (CAI) is open to all so you could be active in that club until you get into another one. You can look to transfer but I imagine clubs at any higher-ranked schools will be just as hard to get into.

What is your advice on what I should do moving ahead to build my resume? What did you do once you got rejected from clubs and did you eventually end up getting into them?
