When is too early to apply to B-School?
Hi all. First, about me:
Undergrad
T50 University in Northeast, Double Major in Finance and Industrial Engineering (Honors Program). 3.4 GPA. Graduated May 2019.
Extracurriculars in undergrad: TA / on council for Honors Program.
Career
Upon graduation joined tech / ops rotational program at a BB in NYC. First year did internal consulting / data analytics, second (current) year did Regulatory Program Management. Recommendations should be easy as I've killed every role I've been in.
Other
GMAT: 760 (Q50, V44, 7IR, 6AWA)
-Volunteer as a mentor for a NYC student mentorship program. Paired with a High School student, have been his mentor for 6 months and plan to continue to be his mentor for a couple years. Hoping to get on the board at some point, but that's down the line.
-LGBTQ Allies at bank
Why MBA? And why so soon?
I want to be Front Office, I don't like my career trajectory as it stands, I don't feel fulfilled (challenged) by the work I do. There are a lot of things wrong with the way my function does its work, I have ideas on how to fix it but as an Analyst it's just outside the scope of my responsibilities. Bottom line I want out.
I may have a S&T offer on the table but assuming that doesn't work out I may seriously eye applying this coming fall, thus having 2Y work experience. I'm aware that is well under the average for top schools.
Thoughts on my plan?
If I get S&T, I'd likely take it and then work 2 more years, then consider an MBA at T10 / M7 schools (not saying anything is guaranteed, that's just my thinking). Obviously I may crush it in S&T making an MBA useless but that's just kind of my plan as of now.
If I don't, then as stated above I'd apply to an MBA - but given that I don't have too much WE, I was planning on shooting for schools like Cornell / UCLA / USC and hoping for scholarship (as only having two years WE I'm not made of money).
Is this a sound plan? Looking for general comments on my profile / whether this makes sense / etc.
