Which MSF programs do I have a realistic chance?

Wattup y'all,

I went to a non-target on the westcoast at a pretty good university majoring in Economics with a 2.7 GPA. I have been working at a CPA firm for the last 2 years as a staff accountant (basically a bookkeeper) and I expect to get a 700+ on the GMAT. I know my GPA is pretty damn low and I know my experience isn't much but with that being said, what kind of MSF programs do I have a realistic chance of being admitted with good placement?

I'd like to get a job in corporate finance or ibanking upon graduation and work in LA or NYC. Right now I have considered, realistically,

Pepperdine
University of Rochester
Villanova (is that a stretch?)

I would appreciate anyone's input.

Thanks -

Honestly think Nova may be a stretch just because of GPA. From talking to my schools MSF director all they care about is GPA+GMAT for the most part. Interested as to how you ended up working at a CPA firm? Best of luck. Obviously you have a brain if you're expecting a 700+ GMAT so start thinking of ways to explain that GPA.

THBanker - I honestly didn't know what I wanted to do after graduation. I ended up moving back home in LA and the job sort of just landed in my lap through a mutual friend. I basically gave up on my goal to work in finance once my GPA dropped so low.

My major GPA was similar to my overall due to the fact that I was a transfer student. Prior to transferring I had a 3.7 from a community college so I know that probably doesn't hold much weight.

your GPA is really low, especially for economics majors. MSF is not that useful imo if you dont get into big name programs. For IB, you really need to go to ivy league or target schools for NYC or LA office. Why dont you work for a couple years and take MBA program? As long as you can get into M7 MBA programs, it is very likely that you can get a job. your chance of getting a decent MSF program is pretty low even if you get 700+ on GMAT.you are most likely to filtered out before anyone reads your application due to your GPA.
