Would a Major in Business and a Minor in Computer Science or Double Major in these fields be Better for Someone who wants to try
So as the title states, I have the option to do either one. I'll be going to a local semi target and have the option to do either or. Some things I've been considering are:
- double major is 5 years, single/minor is 4 years
- double major automatically gets co-op, and only 30% of single degree majors get co-op (apply after first year)
Now while the double degree is intriguing, it will be A LOT harder the severely impact my GPA. I like computer science; however, I am not amazing at the math portion of the major, which I could avoid doing the major minor option. With all that in mind I just had a couple questions. Oh and btw, I plan to try to break into finance or consulting, but would settle for accounting if I can't break into either of these on the business side of things. The option to shift to a cs role is somewhat appealing as well! 1. Would this double major provide a particular advantage for me? Would it be worth doing the extra year of school? 2. Would having a higher GPA in single major be better than a lower GPA in double? 3. I know that having some knowledge of coding is important for business, and I do like it, I'm just not passionate about coding. Is in depth math and computer science skills a necessity for these fields, or would taking a couple courses on using excel and other business applications be all I need? The deadline to pick is in a few days so I am pretty stressed. Any input is appreciated!
