Algorithmic Trading Book for Econ/Finance Graduates
Hello everyone,
I'm an Economics graduate pursuing a career in trading. I was wondering if any of you is aware of an algorithmic trading "bible", that is a very well recognised guide or book on algorithmic trading. I'm looking for something introductory as I have no experience in algorithm building.
Thank you everyone!
I would learn programming and probability prior to learning anything about algorithmic trading.
When speaking about programming, are you referring to some language/tool in particular? If so, do you have a book to suggest for that?
Depends how serious you are. If you actually want to pursue a career in building trading algorithms, you would likely need to get a formal degree in computer science. If you really want to self-study, then you could probably pick up the 'python for data analysis' or 'python for finance' books.

Yes, definitely the second one. Thank you for the links.
So would you say Python is more useful? I was assuming C/C++ were the languages to start from ..
Start with Murphy book on Technical Analysis
Not really a bible, but well known are Ernest Chan's book on algo trading. Also more accessible by non-technical people.
Thank you. I'll take a look at that. Do you mean this one?

yes, or this one https://www.amazon.com/Quantitative-Trading-Build-Algorithmic-Business/… , whatever suits you. But as another poster already mentioned if you are really serious first do the math and programming, but that takes a lot more dedication and time of course.
