Bonus expectation for junior trader
I'm a junior trader at a well-known prop shop. Our firm is doing very well this year as a whole but the desk I'm on (a newer desk) is suffering in terms of PnL. For the more experienced people in this industry - how does this trade-off look between overall firm PnL against desk PnL when determining end of year bonus for a more junior trader? I know this obviously varies by firm, but would appreciate some anecdotal evidence of what's happened in the past.
Hi new grad trader, any of these topics helpful:
Hope that helps.
have very low expectations...and expect to be dissapointed even more
You are basically useless... Accept whatever bone they throw at you with a smile, and wait for your time.
Completely depends on the firm. Optiver, for example, has a bonus structure based on the profits of the firm as a whole, while many other firms have bonus structures that are much more tied to the performance of the desk/individual.
