Can scheduling be a long-term career?
I recently got promoted to scheduler after being a trade analyst for 3 yrs (first job out of college). I've read posts on here and talked to people IRL about scheduling being a grueling yet necessary component to becoming a trader. Like most people, I am very interested in getting into a trading seat.
But in the case that I don't perform at a very high level, I was wondering if scheduling is viable to be a LT career as in I can do just well enough to keep my job and a relatively relaxed lifestyle without having to worry about getting fired.
Ops is the furthest you can be from relaxed :).
You can always be in Ops long term and an experienced operator is paid well since most people do not want to be in Ops for ever. However, it is not a relaxed role. If you at a major you can always move onto other roles where you can leverage your ops experience. Or to other supply chain jobs.
I think it depends on what you do (vessel, truck, pipeline, etc.) and where you are
In distribution offices it can be pretty chill
honestly probably not a popular opinion on here but when i get done with trading, looking for a power scheduler role to ride out until retirement....
