Citi Background Check

Hi everyone! I have an offer for SA Analyst in Markets at Citi which is subject to background check clearance. Does anybody know how long it takes for the process to be completed? What does it entail?

I didn’t receive details for my background check until ~5wks before start date.

All you need to do is provide 100 points of ID (e.g. passport + drivers license). Once you submit that documentation (via a link that Citi will send you through workday) it takes a few days. It’s really quick.

Is that all you wanted to know?

Thank you for your answer. I guess my doubt is about when they confirm that your offer stands after the background check. Because they say this in the letter: "Please note this offer is still subject to background check clearance." So, how long does it take on average for them to say that your offer is definitive? In your case, was it only 5 weeks before the start date or was it before?

Yeah it was about 5 weeks out from starting, which did seem a bit late to me too.

I think they’re just checking that you don’t have any serious criminal convictions. If you don’t have a criminal record, then I wouldn’t worry about it - you’ll be fine.

If you do have a criminal record: the more serious/recent/S&T relevant (e.g. fraud or money laundering) the conviction, the more of an issue it might be. A small misdemeanour from ages ago probably won’t be a big deal. Unless you have a record for fraud or something like that - I wouldn’t sweat it. It’s a routine check and only something serious would trigger a withdrawal of your offer. Do you have a criminal record or something you’re worried they’ll find?

You're fine. This isn't a government agency. They have no ability to check the school records of a different country. Students seem to think banks hire the Pinkerton's to investigate SAs lol. They outsource the work to mediocre third party firms staffed by drones who enter your info into a system and provide feedback based on whatever they get. Just delete this thread or your post above with the details and never disclose that information.

Anybody know about the citi drugtest? Is there one, do they test thc if so?

I got hired this year, and they never gave me one. I later reached out myself to HR and they said it was suspended for COVID . This was like…February of this year…So I was surprised that this was their excuse lol

Wish I could know about the THC thing. I tried to look it up too but no real answers. Hopefully someone chimes in.

When I got hired, everything was so, so, so slow.

So if things are moving slow, then you’re fine lol.

For the criminal background check, did you have to answer questions (like "do you have any convictions?") or just fill out your personal information and let the third party agency conduct the criminal background check?

It was a while ago, but i also received the email from workday for a background check, do they check only “criminal things” only or they also check and call previous and current employers as well?

Quick response would be appreciated! Thanks
