Discovered Passion for Trading Too Late?

I’m currently working at a buy-side firm focused on minority PE stakes, but I’ve recently realized I have a genuine passion for trading. I’ve done well in several poker tournaments, and I apply disciplined risk management to my personal portfolio. I’m drawn to the fast-paced decision-making, the adrenaline of acting on a research idea, and the conviction required to put on a trade. My current role feels much closer to traditional banking/PE investing, and I’m worried it doesn’t align with what I truly enjoy. Is it realistic to transition into a trading role in the future? And what’s the best way to position myself for that shift?
