Congrats on the internship! That's a big step. Now, let's talk about how to make the most of it.

  1. Be proactive: Don't wait for work to come to you. Show initiative and ask for tasks. But remember, don't do it excessively. Balance is key.

  2. Focus on learning: Your main job is to absorb as much knowledge as you can. Take comprehensive and legible notes. You don't want to ask the same question twice.

  3. Prepare questions: Before shadowing someone, prepare a list of questions. This shows your eagerness to learn and intellectual curiosity.

  4. Show genuine interest: If you're working late and someone is teaching you something, engage with them. Ask questions, even if the topic doesn't seem all too important.

  5. Leave a traceable trail: When you're given a task, make sure you document your process. If you're asked for 10 data points, your file should have all 10 and links to where you got them from. This makes the full-time person's job easier.

  6. Network: Make friends with other interns. They're going through the same experiences as you and it's good to have a support system. Plus, people will notice your team spirit.

Remember, the goal is to learn as much as possible and make a positive impression. Good luck!

Just do your job well. In the beginning you will not understand a thing and no one expects you to understand. But always seek some time to ask questions about things you don't understand. Get along with your team. If they invite you for dinner/drinks definitely go out with them. Always be positive, a problem solver, a solution seeker.

If an only if, after you've done your tasks you have free time take on additional projects.
