From LNG Scheduler to Trader: What Should I Prioritize at This Stage?

Hi everyone,
I wanted to ask for some advice on a career path toward becoming an LNG trader.

I’ve been working as an LNG Scheduler for about three years now. I enjoy the work and find it rewarding, but at the same time, I feel a bit impatient and eager to move into a trader role sooner rather than later.

To keep developing myself, I’ve started learning some programming, attending networking events, and even considering graduate school. That said, I also understand that I should probably focus more deeply on my current role and that, realistically, becoming a trader often comes down to waiting for the right seat to open.

So my questions are:

Should I be fully focused on excelling in my current role?

Or is it better to build “extra weapons” outside my day-to-day job?

And lastly, is this sense of urgency and impatience normal at this stage?

I’d really appreciate any perspectives, especially from those who’ve made a similar transition.
