From Ops to S&T

Hi everyone, I worked for 2 years at a BB in Europe within corporate banking operations (Cash Operations / Payments). I would like to get into S&T but I found it quite difficult to make the move.

Now I'm pursuing a MSc in Financial Economics thinking that an education focused on Macro and Finance would be beneficial.

I interviewed for a Fixed Income Credit Sales summer internship at a 2nd/3rd tier bank, but I got rejected after the second round due to lack of front desk experience. The fact that I got interviewed in the first place tells me that there is something we can work on.

How would you go on about it? What internships do you think I should be focusing on? Anything that I could do on top of my studies to be the best candidate for the next recruiting season?

Thank you very much in advance.

Did they specifically mention “the lack of FO experience” at rejection or is that something that you came to a conclusion on?
