Full time recruiting

Hey guys,

Was a SA at a BB this summer in S&T. Did not receive a return offer to my bank (low headcount for trading roles and I’m not a salesman). Throughly enjoyed the experience and came away completely certain trading is something I want to pursue. Was wondering if someone could shed some light on the FT recruiting process or talk about their experience. Currently reaching out to alums at other banks to see if anyone’s still looking and will of course do the resume drops. Is there anything in particular any of you did to get a FT spot? Does anyone have any good books, podcasts, forums, etc where rates/structured products/ficc is discussed? Found it hard to find anything that wasn’t surface level or completely mathematical when it came to reading.

2nd question is should I just recruit for IB full time? Will have a CPA by time I graduate and did a previous internship at a big 4. Had IB SA offers as well in the past. I vastly prefer S&T (I find it more interesting) but at the end of the day I have to get a job and trading roles are very rare. Lmk your thoughts.

Appreciate all the help in advance. This forum gets a lotta hate but I’ve actually found a lot of the advice and recommendations helpful especially since my path to finance was non traditional.

also to add color about me: went to target university, performance reviews were solid from this summer. Only negative feedback I received was that I needed to be “better at getting in front of people”. Admittedly this is true I very rarely spoke to anyone above analyst or associate. Extremely interested in structured products and rates. Strong math background but no coding. Ok gpa (3-3.5) low end of the distribution admittedly.
