Global Macro trade Ideas
I have to complete an assignment given to me in 2 days. I was asked to generate some trade Ideas across asset classes. I would like to have a look at some sample "Global Macro trade Ideas". Since I am new to this I think looking at some sample trade ideas would help me.
read up on FX, commod, global asset allocations
The idaes matter less than how you will justify your views. I suppose you have already some knowledge about investing so try to figure out what will happen next in the world economies, how you could profits from these events (trade ideas) and why, in your opinion, these trade ideas will be profitable.
I need to have a look at some sample Ideas. this is what I need.
Australia, is over valued - even still. I have been long EUR/AUS at 1.20 and is not trading in the 1.39/40 range, there is still money to be made in this trade. It's a long term structural change in China which will affect commodity demand and thus the Aussi suffers of the back of it.

Maybe think about the possibility of the fed tapering purchases of MBS/Treasuries in the near future and what that might do to the yield curve.
Why long EUR/AUD and not short AUD/USD?
Wanted to play a recovery in Europe. In hindsight, I would have shorted AUS/USD
What type of model will you be using?
Yeah, I live in Europe and that recovery is not looking good. In fact I think the ECB will probably be forced to cut soon because of low inflation (putting the ECB's policy rate at par with the Fed). Add the German OMT court case and the long-term prospects for the euro seem quite negative.
The change of the guard at the Fed. You can trade the jitters certainly.
