GLOBAL MARKETS COMPARISON -- Bnp or Nomura

YOYO just wanna compare these two banks in terms of return rate, which one is higher historically. Less concerned about bank "prestige", just wanna get a foot in the door in this job market so that I could go further.

Will be better if anyone could share anything about their fixed income desks outlook!

Had good traction at both places last year. Bnp recently changed their internship style to hire to desk, which kinda makes picking the desk you want to rotate on kind of a strategy game, I think Nomura still has rotational after grad

Nomura is pretty solid in securitized products and rates. I know a couple of people who work there and enjoy it. I’d go where you liked the people better, you will do better/advance faster at a firm where you like your colleagues regardless of desk/firm ranking. If I was a new grad and evaluating firms/desks I’d focus on how many people they have who started as an analyst and worked up to VP+ shows how committed a firm/desk is to developing junior talent

I think it’s very important to consider the structure of the internship too since your goal is to get in the industry. It would be good to figure that out because for desk specific hiring there will be luck played into which group you rotate or interact with more. If it’s more of a generalist model, getting your foot in the door will be more so making good impressions overall and doing some work whereas desk specific you need to actively seek out a group that puts you as their top intern.
