GS Equities S&T San Francisco?

Looked through the forums here, have seen a lot on the IB side of the house, but can anybody here offer any insight about GS Equities in SF? More specifically Institutional Sales? Would be interested to hear the client types, hours (assume extremely early starts), and general feel of the office.

Well I can't imagine then having any traders there so it's likely a small group of sales people. Is there any particular reason you'd want to be in San Fran? The best course career wise as a jr is nyc.

One of my buddies is in GS tech sales in SF. I caught up with him in NYC a month ago and it seems like it's been pretty brutal. He's up around 3:30am PST and is constantly out with clients at night. He looked like he aged a good 3 years in the last 6 months. When I was in SF during the GS conference he was completely swamped and couldn't get out for a second to grab a drink.

That said he's learning a lot and meeting a ton of interesting people in tech. Needless to say, his alcohol tolerance is pretty high as well.

Determined nailed it pretty well.

GS S&T is overall great. That is a bit of an oxymoron since it is Goldman.

What we mean by that is they have a history of internal promotions. Ie: it is a slot at GS where you can move up without being forced to go to graduate school.

Won't state anything further than that. But combine this post with determined.

You won't be working easy hours, you'll be working hard no doubt, but if it is what you want to do and you want to have a chance at internal promotes. It's a good slot.
