Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some steps you can take to improve your chances of breaking into trading:

  1. Networking:

    • Leverage your existing connections and expand your network. Reach out to alumni from your school, especially those in trading roles.
    • Attend industry events, webinars, and join relevant finance clubs or associations.
  2. Certifications and Exams:

    • You've already taken the SIE and are planning to take CFA Level 1, which is great. Consider focusing on the Series 63, 65, or 66 exams based on the specific requirements of the trading roles you're targeting.
  3. Resume and Applications:

    • Tailor your resume to highlight relevant skills and experiences. Emphasize your internship at the SEC and any other relevant coursework or projects.
    • Consider getting a resume review from a professional service to ensure it stands out.
  4. Interview Preparation:

    • Practice common trading interview questions and scenarios. Focus on both technical skills and behavioral questions.
    • Mock interviews can be very helpful. Consider finding a mentor or using a service that offers mock interviews.
  5. Alternative Paths:

    • If direct trading roles are challenging to secure, consider related positions such as operations, risk management, or research roles within trading firms. These can provide a pathway to trading roles later on.
  6. Persistence and Patience:

    • The job market can be tough, but persistence is key. Keep applying, networking, and improving your skills.

Remember, many successful professionals faced similar challenges early in their careers. Keep pushing forward, and don't hesitate to seek advice and support from your network and professional resources.

why did you graduate so early? better to have a couple of internships under the belt before you shoot full time apps. SIE and level 1 are good, gonna need firm sponsorship for 63/57 so you cant take it.
