How likely can a guy with normal intelligence break into Quant trading

Hello everyone,

I’m currently an undergrad and I am wondering what is the likelihood that an average Joe (somewhat) break into quant trading firms like citadel. (did alright in high school math, was a year ahead and learned with people in grade higher for the IB program)

That being said, I truly believe that to succeed in an industry and be one of the rainmakers you need to have an intelligence at the top decile to succeed. What would you say are some intelligence and experience requirements for someone possibly looking into quant trading as a career?

I think with enough hard work, you can break into any career path. The more important question to ask is being motivated by money alone, how long will you last before you eventually burnout?

You don't need "huge intelligence" to be in quant trading. Honestly just work ethic and good listening skills. These are mostly team operations now, so you just need to be a good cog in the wheel.
