JP morgan S&T internship

Hello Everyone,

I'm going into my senior year at Rutgers. Im double majoring in accounting and finance and minoring in econ ..gpa 3.47 (fingers crossed, it should improve before I graduate). I already have an offer with PwC for after I graduate but I'd like to apply for JP Morgan s&t internship before I have to start there because I like finance way more. As soon as I finished my PwC tax internship in april, i studied for and I passed my mortgage loan originator exam this summer and have been working for a boutique mortgage bank while continuing to take summer classes. Im in charge of obtaining my own leads and have been networking with many financial advisors and cpas .. pitching the benefits of cash out refinances for their clients and how their monthly savings can be reinvested back in there portfolio... I did this so that I could get some sort of finance and sales experience this summer because I got denied for the jp morgan internship this year and it was too late to apply anywhere else. I'd like some input on whether or not I'd be a competitive applicant this year. I know I'm not an ivy leaguer but I think I have decent experience (not the best gpa though).. Planning on possibly entering an equity research competition at my school in the fall if my schedule permits. Would that boost my chances? Anything else I can do to be more competitive?

S&T internships are incredibly hard to get, because there are so few spots....you should apply/try to interview at ALL 20 primary dealer banks.

to make yourself more competitive, i would suggest opening a trading account at TD Ameritrade using ThinkOrSwim (TOS)...and start daytrading. Open an IRA account...so the mkt data and platform are 100% free.

This is the only way to get real experience that S&T desks will take seriously....

Thanks. I used to day trade with scottrade about 2 years ago but I lost a few thousand of my own dollars so I stopped until I can afford to risk my money. I was 18-19 at the time.. Is it going to make me look bad if I mention that haha?
