Oil Trading - is it too late?

Is it too late to start a a career in oil on the physical or paper side? I understand that there is more vol currently in power and many people lean there for starting careers, but will there still be a market for oil traders in 10 years? Career advice appreciated. Thanks!

I’m not saying it is. I’m truly asking a question. Maybe the reasoning being shops not building out as much oil as it’s established so less turnover of trading spots? Or just less vol in general? Power just seems much more talked about and hot. I plan on going into oil trading hopefully and am looking for any opinions.

1) IMO it is never too late. I am not into betting but oil is going to stay for at least 10-20 years.

2) Oil as a commodity has cycles so there will always be opportunity to make (and lose) money. Think 2020-2022!

3) Physical or paper trading houses will stay but mkt is getting more competitive and business focuses change.

Just my 2 cent :))!
