Rates Vol Trader Career

Hi monkeys, a couple of questions for current/former rates vol traders. How has your career path been since you joined the industry? Did you stay in sell-side or move to buyside? Did any of you move to another product? Who are the biggest players as of now? Thank you

I started around rates vol, we were a bit different because our desks were generally in rates derivatives and such, so I did rates vol and some other derivative products. I ended up moving to a prop shop later doing some MM but mainly taking positions on undervalued relationships in volatility, and now I'm in a macro/RV trading spot looking to make it to junior PM by end of the year.

While I think the sellside part of trading is dying and will continue to shrink, rates vol is one of the desks I don't see changing too much. It's one of the best desks you can be on, and I'd really highly recommend it.
