"Finance is dead"
Yeah I was rejected. I'm not bragging, but just to demonstrate how competitive this program was I had a 4.0 GPA at a target school with previous experience in finance and I still did not get an interview.
tell me about it...i feel so fked by this market..ihave a 3.95 gpa, previous wrk experience at an IB and at blackrock but go to a non-target. not even a first round interview...i really feel the "discouraged worker effect" lol
I got an interview from Goldman's sophomore investment banking spring program, but didn't get one for this UBS thing.
Why are you fuckin idiots trying to get jobs at banks?
I also had experience at an investment bank last summer, a 3.7 (maybe it's not that great), and I'm at a nontarget
I haven't even received any notification from Goldman Sachs, JPM, MS, or Citi on their rotational programs. Not to mention the slew of other banks that I applied to
This market sucks
yea bro...market really is fked up. i interviewed with JPM honors last week but my contacts there told me that they were looking for s&t hires now bc ib and er positions are already filled; thus, that fked me up bc i wanted ib.
and i havent heard from gs, citi, or ms either; I'll probably get rejections from there as well. does anyone when F500 companies interview or when they update ur status regarding finance internships?
if you don't get into a sophomore rotational program it's not the end of the world - I didn't get into the Morgan Stanley sophomore program and did back office/operations at Bear Stearns. Junior year I got interviews several BB and boutique banks and a couple offers. Most people are who get banking internships their junior year have don't have any experience in banking so a few of your who already posted have a leg up already. If you're at a target school for junior year IB programs you should be in good shape. My 2 cents.
what if you arent at a target but have experience at a notable IB
Then network. If you are able to show someone that you are smart and interested, they will help the best they can.
i have done that, but no dice....places are in a "hiring freeze"
Networking is very difficult in this environment. Most people are unwilling to network at the moment as their own jobs are on the line. Non-target school kids will have to wait till the market recovers I guess and HR is also being very particular this year about who should get interviews and who shouldn't.
i hope i get a sophomore rotational gig.....those would be as close to front office as possible and it would be a big move up from middle office where i worked last year
i'm guessing in general if an interviewer says good luck, that's a ding? oh boy, fuck
what are you guys planning on doing for the summer? have a few superdays, but not banking on anything considering how competitive it will be
its not always a ding. they might say good luck because they aren't the only one making a decision.
or maybe cuz they banged your sister so hard that they wanted to wish her luck through you
that would be quite some girl-on-girl action
