Sales and Trading Sophomore Program Interview Help!

Hey guys! I am sophomore at a non-target school majoring in Physics and Economics. I have an interview with a BB for the sophomore sales and trading summer program. The only previous experience I've had is that I interned for a real estate brokerage firm last summer. With that, this is going to be my first interview for a major bank. I was wondering how should I start prepping for this interview.

  1. Make sure you know what's going on in the markets and have opinions on what might happen. A very broad question I've almost always had asked for me when I interviewed at BB's is 'What are your thoughts on where the market is headed' or 'What do you think of the markets?'

You can literally answer anything you want as long as it makes sense (and you are prepared to back up your points). Maybe say something about the recent Fed interest rate hike announcement and what tools they will use to do so. How would you say this will affect difference parts of the economy? Also maybe discuss oil.

  1. Get your behavioral questions on lock and make sure the people like you.
  2. Don't say shit you don't know.
  3. I think it's a bonus if you know about basic option calls / puts and their payoffs. You might get asked about this but I don't know since it's just a sophomore program.
  4. Know why you like sales & trading - if you say you like the markets, be prepared to talk about why you like the markets. I tend to say, it's a fast-paced environment (drawing upon previous experiences at slower internships), and very meritocratic, and other backup-able bullshit.

  5. Would be pretty neat if you tied in your real estate internship to something along the lines of you being interested in fixed income and mortgage backed securities / securitized products if that does interest you, but that might be too much.
