Securitised Product Hedge Funds

What are the biggest names which trade securitised products? And such that the pipeline is from securitised products trading/structuring on the sell side --> investment/PM role on buyside?

bump particularly interested in this space also following my summer

not HF related but I believe BX and PIMCO are big players

Yeah, a lot of what I read is that a lot of exits come from the banking side of securitized products- so unsure if the trading/structuring with securitised products falls under that umbrella/is different. Would love to know more about the space.

From the people I've spoken with, a trading background is an absolute must for HFs. For more origination focused things, it goes both ways. There's more volume of bankers than traders, which might create the perception that securitized products banking produces those exits.

I’ve been in RMBS securitization / financing for almost 4 years now. Two different banks in NY. Top SP hedge funds really only look for people with trading backgrounds, not bankers. However if you want to pivot into private credit investing or do cap markets for an originator, the switch is much easier it seems.
