Size of mortgage bonds markets in Europe
I was wondering whether anyone knows how big the MBS market is in Europe in comparison with the US MBS market and the European government bond markets? Also what would be the breakdown between RMBS and CMBS?
I was reading the JPM MBS Primer (June 2006) and it said that US MBS was 23% of the US fixed income market and US treasuries were 17% (page 3).US Corporate bonds were 19%. Total market size was $25.9 trillion.
Anyone more information on the European MBS market would be great.
