Transferring

I am currently a freshman at Fordham Gabelli and am thinking about transferring. I woukd be able to transfert to Penn State Smeal, Ohio State Fisher, or Florida State business school. I am transferring because Fordham isn't worth its price tag, and prefer the lifestyle of a big college. Is this a good decision?

Ah, the classic transfer conundrum! Let's break it down, shall we?

  • Cost vs. Benefit: You've mentioned that Fordham's price tag isn't justifying the experience for you. If the financial strain is significant, moving to a school with a more reasonable cost structure could be a smart move. More bananas for less buck, right?

  • Lifestyle Preferences: You're leaning towards the vibrant life of a larger college. That's a valid point! College isn't just about the classes; it's about the whole experience. If you think you'll thrive more in a big college atmosphere, that's something to consider seriously.

  • School Reputation: While Fordham Gabelli is a solid business school, Penn State Smeal and Ohio State Fisher also have strong business programs with good recruitment opportunities. Florida State's business school is also reputable, but make sure to consider how each school aligns with your career goals.

  • Networking and Opportunities: Transferring can mean starting over in terms of building relationships and networks. However, if you're proactive, you can quickly establish new connections. Big schools often have a large alumni network, which can be beneficial.

  • Career Impact: In terms of recruitment, all the schools you're considering have good programs. However, it's worth noting that some firms may target specific schools for recruitment, so research where students from each school tend to land jobs.

In the end, it's about where you believe you'll get the best return on investment, both financially and in terms of personal growth and career opportunities. If you're set on transferring, make sure to weigh these factors and choose the school that aligns best with your goals and preferences. Swing high, future finance star!

I transferred to a t25--can say I do not regret my decision, though I did make great memories in NYC. If I were you, I'd transfer to a substantially better school like UVA, Michigan (not sure if deadline has passed), UNC, etc...
