is it just me or this platform extremely buggy? It's telling me i got in at prices that even remotely reflect what I actually bought at!? I'm down 200 when I should be up about 200?

for example, it has my cost basis for FAZ at 79.34...it hasn't even broken 79 today....

okay241st place! mwahaha

I'm amazed you would hold it ~6000 short BAC overnight with the FOMC tomorrow. I sold all my puts today. I did have more cash wise than you but its only day trading only for me for awhile. Markets are too crazy. Options settlement is 1 day so it works. :)

Reality hits you hard, bro...

Edmundo Braverman640 point intra-day swing. That's what the fuck I'm talking about.

What the hell is going on

16rlIgnorant question: If you had real positions, would you keep them overnight or try to close a position everyday?

depends on your investment style, and also your budget. If you dont have a significant amount of capital invested then the commissions could add up and cut into your profit .

For example: If you have an account with a top online broker such as e*trade, Fidelity or TD, and you only have a few g's in there day trading like that could cost you a decent amount of your capital per day.

Those brokers usually charge around $10 per trade, so if you have $2,000 in a trading account and you execute 4 trades, or open and close 2 positions, then you just spent 2% on commissions which requires some serious returns to stay positive.

Long holders seem to be doing better in this market on average. Who else is doing this for the first time?

I made a nice profit from XOP today, but I'm thinking the oil/gas industry is being overbought, I'm thinking of selling my remaining XOP shares soon.

anyone agree?Disagree?

Who is K.Mountain? Im curious of your strategy. You have made 179 trades already, and w/ $10 fees, that makes $1790 in fees... so Im curious of your strategy overall, and how you learned to trade, because you have made good overall returns (10%+), and are exposed to something I have next to no exposure with. Thanks : )

Also, could anyone explain to me why the market values of the holdings are all roughly twice the net worth? I'm pretty new to trading, and I can't understand the why K.Mountain for instance has ~43k in buying power but only a 21.5k net worth. Is this based off of a 1 to 1 leveraging?

it's due to margin.

i created this game and someone else posted it haha. jacked my game

"Look, you're my best friend, so don't take this the wrong way. In twenty years, if you're still livin' here, comin' over to my house to watch the Patriots games, still workin' construction, I'll fuckin' kill you. That's not a threat, that's a fact.

BAC is killing it. Who would have thunk it?

So what strategies are the people here using? I'm longing only, with companies either which I think would benefit from uncertainty, or which were hammered last week, or which I feel are undervalued in general, or which Buffett owns. I'm 90% sure most of my success has been because of the bull market in general, and because of luck.

Furthermore, just passed the 20% gains mark. Booyah.

In the proper time frame, yes, that is in fact killing it.

U jelly?

Dang. We all got owned today by Meech. What made you make the bet on gxyey? Good move anyways.

I've looked over the strategies of the leaders on some other games. They seem to focus on FAS, FAZ, GERS and NEGS. Not sure how applicable those would be in real life, because GERS and NEGS have such low market caps, but it seems interesting for the games. Thoughts?

Yep, that is me seabird. You are managing to kick my ass by copying my picks, but give me a couple days, and I will be on top. Consistency is key with my trading method--in my other paper trading game on marketwatch (Jeff Reeves stock picks), I have not had a negative day in over 2 weeks, and sit with well over 300% returns in less than 3 weeks. PM me if you want some details. Obviously, I can't share everything, but I would be willing to chat with you.

Negative. Luck on my part, probably skill on his, plus luck maybe. I'm just copying what hes doing, plus a couple other "lucky" trades on the side.

Right, I'd waste money competing with people from an online forum on to win a game that I've never played before in my life. Not to sound unduly harsh, but srsly dude, you sound like you'd also accuse people like Bernanke and Blankfein of having secret Illuminati connections and desires to rule the world.

Its never too late.

Also, anyone know why I don't have any margin anymore?
