West Coast Trading - Semi-target and interested in trading

I go to a semi-target on the west coast and am quite interested in trading. However, one of my friends who did a sophomore rotational at BAML told me that west coast kids getting S&T in NYC is unheard of and virtually impossible. Thoughts?

Can you be a little more specific? Which school is your semi-target? Do u want to trade on the sell side or the buy side?

i've known quite a few out of town hires over the years...some from Cal (JD/MBA from Stanford i think)...some from China, Singapore and Japan...wall street does not care or screen for geographic location...they just don't care. Everybody knows they pay enough for you to rent an apt...and i recall they even give out moving stipends (like a 5-10k credit with the moving company that the bank uses). Especially given that the banks aren't hiring that many people nowadays..these moving stipends are insignificant to the bank. If they think you are talent...you can practically get away with murder. If you are not "talent" then none of this really applies to you...

I am a proprietary Govt Bond Trader...i post my comments on the mkt intraday at twitter...and longer articles on my blog. I've accumulated a lot of educational info in these blogs..so i highly recommend checking them out http://govttrader.blogspot.com
