What should I do in this case?

Hi, I recently went through three rounds of interviews w/ 10+ ppl in the team for an off-cycle junior level position. However, I haven't heard back for a week. What's worse, when asked about the timeline, the HR said she didn't know either. How would you guys interpret this, and what should I do at this point? I am not sure whether waiting will be the best thing to do, as I actually may have other opps overseas and if things are not working out at this firm, I would like to leave the country asap. Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

I went through the same thing with a BB firm recently and it has been about 3.5 weeks since my final round interviews and have heard nothing. Like you, the HR person said that they did not know of a timeline and also did not know why the process was taking so long. Just a heads up that you may not hear from them. If you really do have something on the go and need to know I would call directly the hiring manager that you interviewed with and see if they respond. Can't hurt at this point?

This to all my hatin' folks seeing me getting guac right now..

I went through the same thing last year with a commodities trading firm in London. Went for four interviews, one right in the middle of my senior finals (which I told them about and they told me I had to come in anyway if I wanted the job [should have rung alarm bells at that point]). Was told after that interview I would find out in a week. Then it was the next week. Then I found out two weeks after that I hadn't got the job. And I didn't get any feedback (after emailed five times). The whole thing was disgusting and I'm still furious writing this now.

I then spoke to a friend who had worked there as a grad for one year and said all the senior management there were arseholes.

If a firm is going to behave mess you around, unless the comp is amazing or it has unbelievable exit/promotion opportunities, I would leave it. There are plenty more organisations out there who will treat you with the respect you deserve.
