Which year to apply for trading spring weeks

I am about to start the maths course at Cambridge, which is a BA with an MMath year on the condition of how well you perform (i think 2:1/ 1 usually get to continue). I know spring insight weeks are usually for first years on a 3 year course or second years on a 4 year course. I would assume I should apply in my second year, can anyone give me some insight or confirmation on this? Posted this on reddit recently and the general consensus seems to be that I should apply first year (now), although I would like to do the masters year (assuming I would get the grades). My CV is lacking in previous experience. Do I just apply for spring weeks this year as well as next year to boost my CV or should I spend my first year focusing on getting experience and boosting my CV in other ways?

If you’re interested, why wouldn’t you apply during your first year?

Even if you don’t get any it’s a great learning experience for your second year (whether you apply to summers or springs)

Doesn’t really matter, the only thing is some banks may not let you delay a converted internship until after your masters (so you wouldn’t be able to ‘convert’).

But if thats a problem just do springs this year and next year, plenty of people do that.
